If you have ever known the pleasure of singing in a church choir, or in high school or college groups, you can find it again by singing in Solano Choral Society. If you like to sing, but are not sure how your voice would fit in, just give it a try and find out.

Spring 2008 rehearsals begin Tuesday January 22, 2008. Rehearsals are held on Tuesday evenings, 7-10 pm, in Room 1239 at Solano Community College, 4000 Suisun Valley Road, Fairfield.

Each fall and spring semester a new season begins and culminates with two performances of the season's program. Registration can take place at the first rehearsal (last Tuesday of August and January). Concerts are scheduled for December and May. Required skills are the ability to sing on pitch with a pleasant blending quality, the ability to learn and carry a choral part, and an enthusiasm for singing.

Registering
Advance registration is strongly encouraged, but if you don't pre-register you can register at the first class meeting. Whether you are pre-registered or not, you will need to pay for parking (a semester parking permit for on-campus parking is available at a reduced rate compared to daily permits) and materials within the first two meetings (cash or checks accepted). Materials/music fees vary depending on the pieces being performed.

There are two options for registration; the first option (standard academic enrollment in Music 20, 24, or 25) is preferred if possible, because a minimum enrollment is required by the College to prevent class cancellation. The second option (Community Education Program class registration) is available for those who are unable to register in the academic class.

Regular Academic Credit

To Register If you are joning us for the first time and you were not enrolled during the previous semester in a regular class at SCC, you will first need to complete an application for admission. Admission applications can be completed online, by mail, or in person. If you have an active enrollment at SCC, you can register in advance online (http://www.solano.edu - follow the online services link) or via phone (707 864-1006). See http://www.solano.edu/oar/registration.html for details on registering. Solano Choral Society has several possible course numbers (Music 20, Music 24, Music 25). Each of these courses can be repeated up to four times. If you have reached the limit for enrollments in Music 20, register for Music 24 or Music 25 — they are concurrent. If you are rejected for one, try another number. You will need the 4-digit section number corresponding to the class code to register. Section numbers are available from the SCC course catalog and online at www.solano.edu. Semester Fee: $40.00.

The Community Education Program non-credit fee-based classes are designed for personal interest, business and professional development, and lifelong learning.
