The Solano Choral Society was originally established in 1969 as the Fairfield-Suisun Choral Society by its first director, John Unruh. The Choral Society became affiliated with Solano Community College in 1973. Under the direction of "Chris" Christensen, the Solano Choral Society attained its present status as a college credit class and nonprofit organization, attracting members from all parts of Solano County and adjoining counties.

Since 1983 the group has been led by Helen Intintoli and continues to be a cultural asset to the college and the Solano County. Funding from the cities of Vallejo and Fairfield has enabled the group to perform works with the instrumental accompaniment intended by the composer and to feature special musicians such as Magnificat, a baroque orchestra, the Davis Brass, and Coro Hispano de San Francisco.

Solano Choral Society has successfully collaborated with the Vallejo Symphony, the Solano Community Symphony, the Air Force Band of the Golden Gate and the Festival of the Classics.
